Technology in the service of visual

The “Art of Multimedia” workshop develops new ways of perceiving technology in art, as well as art as visual communication.
Workshop participants develop a deeper understanding of the links between the traditional context of the visual arts, the use of new media, and technological advances in creative expression.
Working with Africulturban’s team of artists and experts, participants acquire skills in sound, moving image and media, based on conceptual expressions of art and design such as video or photo installations or computer-assisted music.
At the end of their training, participants are prepared to enter the artistic field of multimedia as independent artists, entrepreneurs or experts in media production and post-production for graphic, video and photographic media.

Partners

Founded in February 2006 by BMG 44’s Matador, the Africulturban association’s first action was to help flood victims by organizing solidarity concerts.

Today, it is more focused on providing a framework for musical creation, organizing festivals and providing professional training, alternative education, new information and communication technologies and social services. In organizing its activities, Africulturban focuses on the promotion, dissemination and development of Hip Hop and urban cultures, while defining itself as a project management and monitoring structure. The organization’s activities include concerts, exhibitions, training workshops, festivals, performances and professional meetings covering all the artistic disciplines represented in Hip Hop and urban cultures: Breakdance, Mcing, Deejaying, Rap, Slam, Graffiti, Urban wear, Rollers and other urban music.

In its ten years of existence, Africulturban has forged a number of partnerships around the world, and today has over 1,250 affiliated members in the various sectors of Hip Hop and urban culture.

It has a recording studio, a rehearsal room, a graphics workshop and a photo and video studio.
Thanks to its dynamism, Africulturban has succeeded in setting up several cultural projects, notably Festa2H (international Hip Hop and urban culture festival) Hip Hop Akademy (training center for urban culture professions) Flow Up (Senegalese Hip Hop springboard) Yuma (Youth Urban Media Academy) Hip Hop Education (Hip Hop project in schools) Urban Doc (first Hip Hop and urban culture documentation center).
