At the age of 5, Marie was already dreaming of making films. But even then, everyone around her was talking her out of it, urging her to put her intelligence to work in other fields. But that was without counting on her tenacity. She went on to study production, first in Paris and then in the United States, where she gained several years’ experience in the field before returning to Senegal.

In 2005, Marie took the plunge and set up her own production company, Picture Box, using her own funds. Picture Box supports companies in their communication strategy through the production of presentation videos, and is also involved in the production of a series of children’s films on DVD. Aware of the extrovert and often inappropriate content of films offered to African children, Marie decided to get involved in the sector.

Her challenge is to bring African content to children’s entertainment films, and in so doing, help meet the high demand in the market. Her ambition is to develop a network and offer children a space where they can express themselves and develop normally.

Marie is a self-proclaimed lover of life and people. She’s a great believer in human potential.
